The diversity of life, first conflicts, the problems at school and of this world, like smog, different developments in various countries, questions of self-orientation, etc.; all of this I expressed with this painting. This was, after Snow White" in 1956, one of my first pictures. t.a.
The artist’s first oil painting, done in surrealistic style. In the background, on the left, one can see a city engulfed by fire, and on the right, in contrast, there is an intact village. In the center, a broad street winds from the mountains, leading into the unknown. Some people populate the street without revealing whether they stand or walk, and if so, where to. In the sky, half-animate flying objects seem to levitate, observing the landscape. In the foreground, on the left, one sees a lower body topped by a head that looks in the direction of a signpost to the zoo. The zoo in the front on the right is pictured by a small number of objects: a giraffe that is able to survey everything, an owl, sitting on a spiky cactus, as a symbol of wisdom, and a crowned snake as a sign of power. In the foreground, the artist drew a human head with items piled on top of it.
Eye-catching is the small space ship that is probably supposed to serve as a means of escape from this world. A confusing and heavily symbolic picture from the young artist that leaves us with plenty of food for thought. a.b.
