A picture drawn in this manner is scarce in my collection. It came up in Munich, where I became really engrossed in myself and found the required serenity. This drawing features very delicate transfers from dark to bright. This demands a very subtle sense of touch, especially in respect of pressing the pencil to the paper, as well as a very flexible yet definite guidance of the pen. The most important requirement for this is a great deal of serenity and patience, which must not be pondered or created artificially, because then it won’t work at all. Even if you bring the patience for painting or making music, it usually doesn’t take long for you to stop.
